Nvidia Names Tesla, LG, Hitachi as First BESS Partners for AI Data Centers

Nvidia’s DSX Ready qualification program sets performance standards for battery energy storage systems in AI factories.

Nvidia has launched a DSX Ready qualification program for battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support AI data center infrastructure, naming Hitachi Energy, LG Energy Solution, and Tesla as the first qualified partners. The program establishes requirements for power conversion system behavior, including dynamic active and reactive power response, current limiting, ride-through, islanded operation, and black-start capability. The qualification process requires suppliers to provide raw time-series data, test configurations, and documentation of applicable industrial standards and regulatory certifications. Nvidia noted that passing qualification does not replace site-level engineering. [1]

Qualified systems include Hitachi Energy’s WD4 PCS and battery storage (5 MW AC, 10 MWh), LG Energy Solution’s Vertech JF2 AC Link (5 MW AC, 10 MWh), and Tesla’s Megapack 2XL (1.93 MW AC, 3.85 MWh). [1]
