WestLight Energy says the Pescadero Community Microgrid in San Mateo County, California, has secured the funding needed to move into studies and development.

The planned system is expected to use about 1.5 megawatts of solar and 8 megawatt-hours of storage. WestLight says the project has $3.5 million in state program funding, up to $4 million from PG&E for studies and grid upgrades, $10 million from WestLight, and $3 million from San Mateo County. Construction is expected to begin in 2029, with service targeted for 2031.
